South Broadway bike lane to connect two Mississippi River Greenways

ST. LOUIS -- Next year, south St. Louis will have a new two-way bike lane along South Broadway from the River City Casino to Dover Street. The South Broadway Cycle Track Project design phase is about 60% done. "This has been a work in progress for years,” Alderwoman Anne Schweitzer told Fox 2. The project is being funded through a Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Program Grant that was approved two years ago. "We need to catch up and this is a big effort to catch up with what’s going on," Schweitzer explained. A man was arrested on Monday after he barricaded himself inside a home for several hours with a child in Hemet. Around 7:30 a.m., Hemet police responded to a report of a restraining order violation in the 2800 block of Marilee Court, according to a Hemet Police Department news release. Angel Carillo, 46, of Los Angeles who was inside the residence, barricaded himself inside with the child, and refused to come out. Officers were eventually able to remove the child from the residence, but Carillo refused to surrender. The SWAT team later arrived to negotiate with Carillo. After several hours of negotiations, Carillo was arrested and charged with several crimes, in addition to his several outstanding warrants. (KRON) -- A suspected burglar was shot by a resident at a home in Vallejo on Monday morning, according to the Vallejo Police Department. Santa Rosa homicide victim’s head found, grandson arrested Vallejo PD responded to a residence on the 1000 block of Georgia Street and Monterey Street at 9:45 a.m. Monday regarding a suspect shot by someone who lived in the home. (KRON) – One person died in an early morning police shooting in Berkeley on Monday, the Berkeley Police Department confirmed. The shooting occurred in the area of 7th and Grayson Street around 5:30 a.m. on Monday. Officers responded to that area Monday morning for the report of an auto burglary in progress, police said. Several suspects were at the scene. One was detained by a BPD officer and the other two were determined to be in a car driving way. Police said that car collided with a BPD car and continued to drive towards the officer. An officer then opened fire, BPD said. The driver of the car was transported to Highland Hospital in critical condition. They later succumbed to their injuries.
