ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Albany County officials unveiled new sustainability programs ahead of Earth Day. It includes a new design for reusable tote bags, which were funded through fees collected for paper and plastic bags.The county also partnered with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation to collect data on greenhouse gas emissions from county buildings and local businesses. TROY, N.Y (NEWS10) -- Three people, including a juvenile, are currently in local area hospitals after a shooting at the Corliss Park Apartments took place around 8:30 Wednesday evening. Troy police confirmed a woman, man, and teenage boy are victims. The woman is facing serious injuries and undergoing surgery, while the other two have injuries that are non-life threatening. LOUIS - Police are investigating an accident involving a child in south central Missouri on Wednesday.Around 5:50 p.m., a vehicle traveling eastbound on Interstate 44 near Waynesville struck a 5-year-old, according to a spokesperson for the Missouri State Highway Patrol. JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Statistics reveal hundreds of Missouri school districts may not be reporting how often staff is restraining or isolating students, something they’re required to do under the law.Tracey Bloch is the Director of Legislative Advocacy for Missouri Disability Empowerment. She has pushed lawmakers to do more when it comes to how and when schools physically restrain or isolate kids with disabilities. It’s personal for her, though."I have a child who also has special needs and has been in situations where he had to be restrained by a trained professional in the building, who has a relationship with him,” Bloch said.The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education reports 1,835 students were physically restrained 6,385 different times, so far in the 2022-2023 school year. The state reports 775 students have been secluded, which means involuntary confinement, 5.092 times. The hit-and-run suspect wanted for a crash that left a 13-year-old boy without a leg in Boyle Heights was arrested on Tuesday.The suspect was identified as Erwin Majano, 29, from Banning, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.Majano is believed to be the motorcyclist who allegedly struck 13-year-old Joshua Mora as the boy was crossing the street on March 30, police said.Partial footage of the crash was captured on nearby surveillance cameras at the intersection near Whittier Boulevard and Orme Avenue, which locals say is known for being dangerous.The suspect was seen sliding across the pavement after striking Mora. A Montgomery County, Maryland, judge sentenced a man Wednesday to life plus 40 years in prison for killing a man he thought was someone else.Vaughn Darvel Bellamy, 32, who is currently serving time in connection with an unrelated killing in Prince George’s County, was sentenced to the lengthy prison term for the 2013 home invasion killing of Alexander Buie.Bellamy and Bryan Byrd, of D.C., were convicted last September for forcing their way into a recovery house on Grenoble Drive in Rockville and killing Buie. Byrd was given a similar sentence last October.
