Ask Amy: Widow faces opposition over new friend
Published Mon, 23 Dec 2024 14:04:11 GMT
Dear Amy: My husband of 50 years died over two years ago.I was happy and content with my single life and have had no interest in dating.Last year I went on a group trip to Spain. There were several single older people on the tour.I was totally shocked when a gentleman asked me to join him for lunch when we returned home. Both our spouses had died at about the same time and we had a lot of similar interests.Over the last year we have become great companions. The trouble is that one of my daughters is adamant about not wanting to meet him.I am not interested in marriage, only friendship. He has no local family. I would like to have him meet her family and I’d like to have him celebrate with us for holidays. She says that she will let me know when she is ready.I feel very bad that I have to exclude my friend when my daughter is around.Related ArticlesAsk Amy | Ask Amy: A family loss leads to a marital move Ask Amy | Ask Amy: Long-time affair leads to post-mortem ...State of the EU debate 2023: Here’s how to follow it

Builders embrace the fact that flexible space and cohesion between the indoors and the outdoors are hallmarks of today’s living. In fact, new-home design plans began answering the need for indoor-outdoor transitions before homebuyers actively demanded it.That’s especially true in the Bay Area and Northern California, where nature is as much a part of our lives as family is.Over the past few years, new-home construction has emphasized greater use of natural light. Juxtaposed with metals, glass, woods, concrete and light-colored stone the result is a sense of welcoming brightness from the threshold through to the back patio.Although curb appeal may play a part in first impressions, people generally live in the homes they buy, not on the curbs in front of them. That’s why each entrance to the home provides an opportunity to set the mood, the ambience or the tone for what comes next.Front porch and walkWhether it’s a walkway to a few concrete stairs, a long front porch or a courtyard th...Horoscopes Sept. 7, 2023: Evan Rachel Wood, live life your way

Nicholls is another FCS team from Louisiana, and is coming off a 38-24 home loss to Sacramento State last week. The Frogs have lost three of their last four games since an undefeated regular season last year in coach Sonny Dykes’ debut.
