SAN FRANCISCO – Blake Sabol might be a rookie that’s still getting his feet wet at the Major League level as a catcher with the San Francisco Giants. But he still knows when he’s hit a home run, even at a place like Oracle Park.“When I hit a ball (well) and I click one,” Sabol said, “there’s not a ballpark that can hold me.”Sabol looked at two sliders for strikes from Ryan Helsley in the ninth inning Tuesday before he crushed a third one 428 feet to center field, a two-run shot that gave the Giants a stunning 5-4 win over the St. Louis Cardinals.“You’re fighting for your life with two strikes, and for him to get a swing off like that is pretty remarkable,” Giants manager Gabe Kapler said. “Really cool moment. One of the cooler moments I’ve been a part of since I’ve been here.”The bat flip pic.twitter.com/s2rapkuzZw— SF Giants on NBCS (@NBCSGiants) April 26, 2023Sabol didn’t even watch the ball fly over the fence, as he flipped hi...Barabak: Finally, accountability for Carlson. If you believe in accountability, if you believe in personal responsibility, if you believe that misdeeds merit punishment and those who knowingly lie should pay for their dishonor and deceit, then Monday was a good day.Tucker Carlson — the race-baiting, immigrant-hating, election-denying, Putin-promoting, two-faced ringmaster of right-wing sophistry — was unceremoniously dumped by his corporate sponsor, Fox News.Let the joyous news be spread! If you believe his ouster will commence a new day of sunshine and companionship across the land, healing our divisions and making red and blue Americans join hands as one, you are probably as gullible as the viewers who swallowed the diet of fallacy and claptrap routinely fed them by Carlson and other disingenuous Fox hosts. It’s not going to happen. As odious and insidious as he was, newsHis removal from a slot in television’s prime time eliminates a major source of air pollution. PAJARO — Residents at Village Trailer Park in Pajaro experienced a bit of joy in the wake of all that has happened in the past month as they got to witness a meeting between two world-class boxers. In one corner: Jose Ramirez, a former unified light welterweight champion who represented the U.S. in the 2012 Olympics. In the other corner: Ruben Villa, a two-time U.S. National Golden Gloves champion who has experienced only one loss out of 20 matches in his seven-year career. However, Ramirez and Villa were not at the park to square off. They were there to uplift the spirits of residents and raise funds in the aftermath of the March 11 Pajaro River levee breech that flooded the community and led to the displacement of many residents. The two boxers mingled with residents, auctioned off household items and gift cards and even provided tickets to Villa’s May 13 undercard match against an opponent to be determined at the Stockton Arena. Villa’s match will be on the same bill as the headlin...Oakland phases out pandemic-related eviction moratoriums

BERLIN (AP) — The German government on Wednesday doubled its growth forecast this year for Europe’s largest economy after the country made it through the winter without major energy problems. It said it now expects gross domestic product to grow by 0.4% — up from the 0.2% expansion it forecast in late January, which in turn was a big improvement on the 0.4% contraction predicted in October. The government expects growth to accelerate to 1.6% next year. The new government outlook for 2023 is a bit more optimistic than that of a group of four leading German economic research institutes, which earlier this month forecast growth of 0.3%.
