SAN DIEGO -- An arrest has been made in connection to a 1990 cold case homicide that left a women dead in Scripps Ranch.The incident occurred on July 11, 1990 when the San Diego Police Department received a call reporting a person down in the 10300 block of Scripps Ranch Boulevard. Responding officers located a Hispanic woman, later identified as Margaret Orozco Jackson, lying on the hillsidewith a rope around her neck. Jackson, who police say was 47-years-old at the time, was pronounced dead at the scene. Due to the location of her body and similarities to other homicide cases involving women, the San Diego Metropolitan Homicide Task Force took over the investigation. A man is facing an attempted murder charge after an OPP officer was seriously injured during an investigation in Caledon earlier this week.Provincial police say they were investigating reports of a “suspicious vehicle” on Tundra Road, near Hurontario Street and Highway 410, just before 7:30 a.m. on Oct. 23.When police arrived on the scene, a Jeep Wrangler with “multiple occupants” fled the scene, striking an officer in the process.“Police set up a spike belt. The driver attempted to flee the scene. MONTREAL — Police say they’re investigating an overnight fire in an unoccupied building in Old Montreal.More than 150 firefighters fought the blaze which began around 8 p.m. on Friday. Montreal Police spokeswoman Const. Jeanne Drouin says the fire was brought under control this morning, but firefighters continued to spray water on the building to prevent flare-ups. Drouin says the cause of the fire remains unknown, but investigators from the arson squad were on the scene late this morning. Municipal tax records show the building was constructed in 1950, though the building’s facade dates from 1891.A 2022 real estate brochure shows the building was put on the market with an asking price of $10 million and touted as a redevelopment opportunity. (AP) — A Missouri prosecutor has dropped and refiled the murder case against Pamela Hupp, a killing that inspired a TV miniseries.Lincoln County Prosecuting Attorney Mike Wood charged Hupp with first-degree murder in July 2021, accusing her of killing her friend, Betsy Faria, a decade earlier. Faria’s husband, Russ, spent time in prison for the crime before his conviction was overturned.On Friday, Wood told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that his office decided to refile the case to petition for a closer venue.
