CHICAGO -- A 72-year-old man was reported missing from the city's Gage Park neighborhood Wednesday, just days after his birthday. According to police, Victor Salcido was last seen in the area of the 5200 block of South Whipple Avenue. He was seen wearing a black and grey stripped shirt, grey pants and navy shoes. HONG KONG (AP) — China's president ordered a national safety campaign on Thursday after a massive cooking gas explosion at a barbecue restaurant in the northwest killed 31 people and injured seven others on the eve of a long holiday weekend.The blast tore through the restaurant at around 8:40 p.m. Wednesday on a busy street in Yinchuan, the capital of the traditionally Muslim Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, as people gathered ahead of the Dragon Boat Festival, the official Xinhua News Agency said.The explosion left many people unconscious and they needed to be carried out of the shop, according to the online news site The Paper, which quoted a member of the search and rescue team. DALLAS (KXAN) – The State Fair of Texas Wednesday released the list of new attractions, entertainers and weekend rodeos for the 2023 State Fair.The fair will start on Friday, September 29, and run through Sunday, October 22. According to the announcement, fairgoers will see a Dinosaurs at the Lagoon exhibit with 10 life-sized dinosaurs found in Texas and a kids play area. The Fair said photo opportunities will be available with a 57-foot-tall Alamosaurus. The Fringe Stage will offer a water balloon fight with the Acrobuffos, a contortionist named Sara Twister and husband-and-wife acrobats Street Circus, the fair said. Three people were wounded in a shooting in St. Paul’s West Seventh neighborhood Wednesday night, and the suspect climbed onto a roof and got into a standoff with police.After 911 callers reported a shooting in the 200 block of Superior Street about 9:10 p.m., responding officers found two men and a woman with gunshot wounds to their legs. The woman also had been shot in her arm.Paramedics took the three to the hospital with injuries that did not appear life threatening, according to Sgt. Mike Ernster, a police spokesman.When officers found a possible suspect, he climbed onto a nearby roof to try to get away from officers. The SWAT team and negotiators arrived and were later able to take the man into custody, Ernster said.The man was also taken to the hospital with injuries he sustained before he got on the roof.
