By REBECCA BOONE (Associated Press)Follow live updates about wildfires that have devastated parts of Maui in Hawaii this week, destroying a historic town and forcing evacuations. The National Weather Service said Hurricane Dora, which passed south of the island chain, was partly to blame for strong winds that initially drove the flames, knocking out power and grounding firefighting helicopters.Hawaii Gov. Josh Green said operations Saturday would focus on “the loss of life” as he toured the devastation on Lahaina’s beloved Front Street with representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. “Most of our focus will be on humans today,” he said.FEMA said the agency has been spray-painting cars and buildings on Front Street with an “X” to indicate they had received an initial check, but that there could still be human remains inside. When crews do another pass through, if they find remains, they will add the letters “HR” ...Bello’s struggles continue, bats fall silent as Red Sox lose 6-2 to Tigers

Red Sox pitchers allowed four home runs in total, including two to outfielder Kerry Carpenter, and the offense couldn’t make the most of the few chances they created, going 0 for 11 with runners in scoring position. It was clear early on that Bello didn’t have it, and while he was able to avoid serious damage with a couple of well-timed double plays, the Tigers were all over him throughout. The trouble started in the second inning, when Bello allowed a leadoff home run to Carpenter and then a single to Spencer Torkelson. He got a double play to end that rally but allowed three more singles in the third, including an R...Two dead after fatal residential fire in Vaughan

(The Hill) — Few candidates have been as aggressive in their attacks against former President Trump or shown the ability to get under the former president’s skin quite like Chris Christie. While the former New Jersey governor is occasionally quizzed at town halls and in TV interviews about his policy positions, his frequent and at times personal criticisms of Trump have garnered him headlines and raised the question of whether he can make waves in the primary field either with his candidacy or by derailing Trump’s.Trump has called Christie a “fat pig,” a “failed governor” and “sloppy,” and he posted an unflattering photo on social media of Christie sleeping on an airplane. He has blamed Christie for recommending the appointment of FBI Director Christopher Wray, who has become a lightning rod for criticism on the right.Christie has responded every step of the way, or in some instances triggered Trump’s ire, calling the former president a failed leader, a “coward,” a “one-man crime wav...Jet ski in garage causes structure fire in Point Venture, officials say
