SF Giants Kyle Harrison to make home debut on Monday against Reds SAN FRANCISCO — Another Giants top prospect will get to show off his stuff in front of the home crowd.Kyle Harrison will make his Oracle Park debut on Monday against the Cincinnati Reds, manager Gabe Kapler said on Saturday. It’ll be the Giants’ top pitching prospect’s second big league start coming off a tricky debut in hostile Philadelphia.Oddly, the 22-year-old left-handed pitcher gave up a majority of the five hits he allowed to the Phillies’ left-handed hitters — including a home run from former MVP Bryce Harper. He gave up two runs and struck out five in 3 1/3 innings primarily with a strong four-seam fastball up in the zone. With the off day Thursday, Harrison could have made his home debut on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball in the series finale against the Atlanta Braves. His dominance against Philadelphia’s right-handed hitters aside, the Giants saw it best to keep Harrison away from Atlanta’s lineup that holds a league-lead...

Marseille struggles to beat Brest in French league PARIS (AP) — Marseille moved level on points with Monaco at the top of the French league after laboring to a 2-0 home win against Brest on Saturday. The host started well and quickly broke the deadlock from a free kick that Chancel Mbemba headed home from close range at the far post. But that goal did not help Marseille play with confidence as it struggled to create attacking moves.Ismaila Sarr scored the second goal in the 65th minute. Brest travelled to Marseille with confidence after winning its opening two games for the first time in the club’s history.Led by an inspired Jeremy Le Douaron, Brest had the best chances of the first half without breaking the host’s solid defense at Stade Velodrome.Le Douaron came close to leveling just after the interval, only for his header to be saved on the goal-line by defender Jonathan Clauss.Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang wasted a chance to double his team’s lead when alone near the penalty spot he missed the target.Marseille manag...

The bunt had Fan, third baseman Liu You-An and catcher Chen Kai-Sheng confused on who was covering home and who was taking the ball. Liu took the ball and overthrew Chen, allowing Jay-Dly...

US women DQ’d from 4×400 relay at worlds due to faulty baton exchange BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) — The American women’s 4×400 relay team was disqualified from the preliminary round at the world championships Saturday after their third and fourth runners in the four-lap race bungled the baton exchange.Quanera Hayes missed on several attempts to hand the stick to anchor runner Alexis Holmes. When they finally did make the exchange, they were out of the legal passing zone.It was the latest chapter in a long stretch of problems for Team USA in the relays, though a mishap in the longer relay is relatively rare because none of the runners are going as fast, and there isn’t as much traffic. With runners such as Allyson Felix, Sydney McLaughlin and Dalilah Muhammad leading the way in recent years, this has been as close to a sure thing as there is for the United States, which has won this race at seven of the last eight worlds. This year, they won’t even make the final. The U.S. men and women were due to race in the 4×100 relay later in t...
