Stock market today: Asian shares rise on optimism over Wall Street rally TOKYO (AP) — Asian shares were mostly higher Monday after a rally on Wall Street driven by reports that showed inflation abating, assuaging fears over the threat of a recession. Japan’s benchmark Nikkei 225 rose nearly 1.7% to 33,738.80 in morning trading. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 added 0.5% to 7,239.80. South Korea’s Kospi jumped 1.4% to 2,601.00. Excessive heat warnings, advisories extended through Monday in SoCal Officials with the Los Angeles County Health Department have extended excessive heat warnings and advisories as the National Weather Service forecasts exceptionally high temps through the holiday weekend.  The excessive heat warnings have been extended through 8 p.m. Monday for the Antelope and Santa Clarita valleys as well as areas of San Luis Obispo County. Excessive heat advisories have also been extended through Monday for Cuyama Valley, mountain regions of Los Angeles and Ventura counties, as well as for mountainous and interior portions of San Bernardino County, according to NWS.   Southern California severe weather alerts While temperatures in parts of the San Fernando Valley hit the mid-90s Sunday, Palmdale and Lancaster reached 105 degrees. Police investigating after shooting in Westlake leaves 1 person wounded Police are investigating after a short pursuit and a shooting led to at least one person being injured in the Westlake neighborhood of Los Angeles Sunday night.  Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department responded to the area of 8th and Park View streets at around 9:40 p.m. on reports of a shooting, LAPD told KTLA.  At the scene, police found a gunshot victim and requested an ambulance. No information about the person’s condition was provided.  Police also said that a short pursuit was initiated, lasting all of a minute, but it is unclear where the chase started and how it ended, though officers did say that the suspect was not at the scene of the shooting. Car crashes into a New Hampshire restaurant and injures several customers, fire department says LACONIA, N.H. (AP) — A car crashed into a busy restaurant and injured several patrons in a lakeside town in New Hampshire Sunday afternoon, emergency officials said.The vehicle struck the Looney Bin Bar & Grill a little after 12:40 p.m. Firefighters who arrived on the scene found the car inside the restaurant, the Laconia Fire Department said in a statement.
