Top high school graduates for 2023 Resilience. Persistence.The high school graduates of 2023 endured a deadly pandemic, social isolation and canceled events en route to their diplomas. Today we salute those who did so with academic excellence.Each year, we ask east metro and western Wisconsin schools to submit a list of their top graduates, however they define them. This year, 80 schools responded. Some designate valedictorians and salutatorians, others award “cum laude” honors. Some choose a Top 10 or a small percentage of the class.For those who send us a smaller list, we invite them to include students’ favorite quotes. The words they choose come from authors and artists, politicians and scientists, athletes and other notables of the past and the present. Rotterdam police investigating Fern Avenue shooting ROTTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Rotterdam Police are investigating a shooting that occurred on Fern Avenue. The incident left one person with a non-life-threatening injury. Get the latest, news, weather, sports and community events delivered right to your inbox! On June 16 at 11:40 p.m., Rotterdam Police responded to a report of a large party at a home on Fern Avenue. As officers were responding, reports of shots fired were relayed at the party.  Upon arrival, police encountered a 21 year old male victim with a gunshot wound to his lower leg. Officers rendered first aid to the victim and he was transported to Albany Medical Center, with the injury believed to be non-life threatening.  State Trooper shot while conducting a traffic stop on I-88 No suspect information is available at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Rotterdam Police Detective Division at (518)355-7397 ext. 2104.

Pedestrian hit by driver of SUV in southwest Aurora dies A pedestrian hit by an SUV in southwest Aurora on Friday night has died, police said.The incident happened just before 10 p.m. on South Havana Street near East Tennessee Avenue, the Aurora Police Department said in a news release.The driver, a 36-year-old Texas woman, of a Toyota Highlander was northbound on Havana when the SUV hit a 46-year-old man who was crossing mid-block, police said. The driver remained on scene and was cooperative with investigators. The man’s name will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.An investigation is ongoing, police said. Friday’s incident is the 32nd traffic-related death this year in Aurora.
