CALGARY — A debate is raging over a phrase being chanted by pro-Palestinian activists at rallies across the country after a protester was charged in Calgary.Police charged Wesam Cooley, also known as Wesam Khalid, earlier this month with causing a disturbance. A hate motivation has been applied.Police said two groups of protesters gathered at city hall on Nov. 5 to show support for Palestine and Israel amid the conflict in the Middle East. Officers met with each group to address the safety of participants and discuss some of the language and signage from past protests.Police allege Cooley took to the stage, acknowledged the conversation with officers then repeatedly used an “antisemitic phrase” while encouraging the crowd to follow along.Cooley’s lawyer, Zachary Al-Khatib, said it appears Cooley was arrested for chanting “from the river to the sea, Palestinians will be free.”Al-Khatib said there’s nothing hateful about calling for freedom and equa...

MANILA, Philippines (AP) — A powerful undersea earthquake shook the southern Philippines on Friday, officials said. There were no immediate reports of serious damage or injuries, and no tsunami warning was in effect. The quake measured magnitude 6.7 and was located 26 kilometers (16 miles) from Burias at the southern tip of the Philippines, the U.S. Geological Survey said. It said there was a low likelihood of casualties and damage. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology measured the quake at magnitude 7.2 and said it was only 10 kilometers (6 miles) deep. Shallow earthquakes are more likely to cause damage on the Earth’s surface. The Philippines experiences regular earthquakes and volcanic eruptions due to its location on the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” an arc of seismic faults around the ocean. The Commission welcomes the political agreement reached on 14 November between the European Parliament and the Council on the Commission's proposal to amend two Directives: for lead, the Directive on the protection of workers from the risks related to exposure to carcinogens, mutagens and reprotoxic substances at work , and for lead and diisocyanates, the Directive on the protection of workers from the risks related to chemical agents at work. The update will improve workers' protection from the health risks linked to the exposure to dangerous chemicals: lead and diisocyanates. In the case of lead, significantly reduced exposure limits will help prevent health issues of workers, for example affecting reproductive functions and foetal development. Everything About Baccarat; Rules, Strategies, and Online Casino Recommendations

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 17:28:00 GMT

Baccarat is a modern casino game that involves predicting the outcome between the player and the banker. The game fundamentally compares the sums of cards to determine the winner. There are three betting options in Baccarat: player betting, banker betting, and tie betting. If either the player or the banker has a number close to 9, that side wins. If the sum exceeds 9, the result is determined based on the closest number. The basic rules of 바카라 are simple. A deck of cards is used, and each player receives two cards. J, Q, K are counted as 0, and Ace is counted as 1. If the sum of the cards exceeds 10, only the unit digit is considered. For example, if you add 7 and 8, the sum is 15, but only the unit digit, 5, is considered.Additionally, there are several strategies in Baccarat. However, it's crucial to remember that Baccarat is entirely random, and strategies don't always guarantee a win. When using strategies, it's important to make rational decisions and bet appropriate amounts....

Foggy Start to Clear Out to a Great Weekend

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 17:28:00 GMT

Our Friday is off to a foggy start across South Florida but at least it’s dry out there and the dry weather will be the trend heading into the weekend and at least early next week.Expect the fog to lift and clear out late-morning, giving way to a mix of sun and clouds during the afternoon. Besides a stray shower, it will be dry for most with highs warmer into the low to mid 80s.There will still be some leftover moisture on Saturday, so patchy morning fog will be possible once again along with periods of sun and clouds. Overall, Saturday is looking nice with bright and warm conditions.Overnight Saturday into Sunday morning, a weak front will cross through from the north. It will come rain-free but what it will do is usher in a brief, minor drop in low temperatures and humidity. Lows on Sunday morning should be a couple degrees cooler than on Saturday, dipping into the mid to upper 60s across much of mainland South Florida. During the day Sunday, it’s looking even nicer wi...

Schwarzenegger: America needs ‘new blood’ in the White House

Former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger told POLITICO he sympathizes with majorities of Americans worried and even dejected about a 2024 rematch between Joe Biden and Donald Trump.“It’s really because none of them are perfect and also because of the age factor,” Schwarzenegger, 76, said in an interview. “We need new blood. I say, always, we need a new breed of leaders.”At the same time, Schwarzenegger bemoaned the lack of a clear opening for a fresh face — in either of the two major political parties.“When Biden holds a press conference, everyone covers it. And when Trump does something … even when he sneezes, they cover it,” he said. “The headlines are all-Biden, or all-Trump, so there’s no room for any of those other guys to get in. How do you build a name?”Schwarzenegger, himself, was an obvious exception in his own political career. In 2003, the A-list movie star and bodybuilding champion shocked California’s establishment and the political universe writ large when he ran f...
