TASELI PLATEAU, Turkey (AP) — Rescuers pulled an American researcher out of a Turkish cave on Monday, more than a week after he became seriously ill 1,000 meters (more than 3,000 feet) below its entrance, said the Speleological Federation of Turkey.Teams from across Europe had rushed to Morca cave in southern Turkey’s Taurus Mountains to aid Mark Dickey, a 40-year-old experienced caver who became seriously ill on Sept. 2 with stomach bleeding. He was on an expedition to map the cave, which is the country’s third deepest.Dickey was too frail to climb out himself, so rescuers carried him with the help of a stretcher, making frequent stops at temporary camps set up along the way.The American was first treated inside the cave by a Hungarian doctor who went down the cave on Sept. 3. Doctors and rescuers then took turns caring for him. The cause of Dickey’s illness was not clear.THIS IS BREAKING NEWS. (CNN) — Astronaut Frank Rubio has now been in low-Earth orbit for more than 355 days, breaking the record for the longest space mission by a US astronaut.Rubio — who has been on the International Space Station since September 2022 — bested the previous record, held by retired NASA astronaut Mark Vande Hei, at 1:40 p.m. ET on Monday, according to a spokesperson for the space agency. What’s more, Rubio is on track to reach another significant milestone in a few weeks’ time. A Russian Soyuz capsule is not expected to return him and his two fellow crewmates — cosmonauts Sergey Prokopyev and Dmitri Petelin — to Earth before September 27.That means Rubio will have spent at least 371 days in orbit once he completes his mission. He is on the cusp of becoming the first American to spend more than one calendar year in microgravity.Yet Rubio’s mission was not originally designed to break records. When Rubio left for the space station aboard a Russian Soyuz capsule on September 21, 2022, he and h...Teen facing attempted murder charge in connection with incident in Chatham appears in court

Fourteen year old Jack Sheeran IV appeared in court Monday and was later released from juvenile detention as he faces allegations that he attacked a 15-year-old Black boy after he and a friend invited the boy to go swimming at Goose Pond in Chatham in July. The incident happened on July 19. On Monday, Sheeran and his father made a speedy exit from court. “I don’t want to speak right now,” Sheeran said when asked for comment. According to a police report, Sheehan and his friend used the N-word and threw rocks at the victim in this incident, who can’t swim and wore a life preserver in the water. The police report said Sheehan and his friend also allegedly tried to hold the victim underwater several times. When he said he couldn’t breathe, the police report said, one of the pair laughed at the victim and called him “George Floyd.”In the victim’s handwritten statement, he told police “Jack asked me if I like my life to which (the other boy) responded I won’t once I’m drowning....Biden in Alaska; 9/11 mourners in NYC, DC, Pa.

Americans looked back Monday on 9/11 with moments of silence, tearful words and appeals to teach younger generations about the terror attacks 22 years ago.“For those of us who lost people on that day, that day is still happening. Everybody else moves on. And you find a way to go forward, but that day is always happening for you,” Edward Edelman said as he arrived at New York’s World Trade Center to honor his slain brother-in-law, Daniel McGinley.President Biden, speaking at a military base in Anchorage, Alaska, urged Americans to rally around protecting democracy. His visit was en route to Washington from a trip to India and Vietnam.Nearly 3,000 people were killed when hijacked planes crashed into the trade center, the Pentagon and a Pennsylvania field, in an attack that reshaped American foreign policy and domestic fears. On that day, “we were one country, one nation, one people, just like it should be,” Eddie Ferguson, the fire-rescue chief in Virginia’s Goochland Count...Revolution left back DeJuan Jones called up to U.S. National Team

Even 22 years later, Stephen Kempainen’s memories of Sept. 11, 2001, are still fresh enough to bring the man to tears. While city officials gathered and mingled early Monday afternoon, as they awaited the arrival of the mayor for their yearly 9/11 memorial service, the 59-year-old Bostonian quietly approached the knee-high marble monument which sits in the corner of the Boston Public Garden and is engraved with the names of those lost. After shyly weaving his way past City Council President Ed Flynn and Boston Fire Department Chief Paul Burke with the leash for his small dog in one hand and a pair of pale roses in the other, Kempainen gently placed the flowers among dozens already decorating the memorial, stood silently for a moment, and then retreated back into the crowd without engaging anyone or jostling any elbows to wait for the upcoming ceremony. After Mayor Michelle Wu arrived and marked the passage of 22 years since the death of nearly 3,000 U.S. civilians to terrorism with a w...Battenfeld: Biden future again in doubt after getting the hook onstage in Vietnam

Democrats could soon be thrust into turmoil after the latest signs that Joe Biden won’t be able to run for re-election or may not even serve out his term. The new episode in Vietnam – with aides cutting off Biden’s microphone in mid-sentence – have only fueled fast-moving speculation about the president’s health and political prognosis.“I don’t know about you but I’m going to go to bed,” the 80-year-old president declared after his ill-fated press conference in Hanoi. That seems an apt description of Biden’s political future, too. There are real questions not just about running again but whether he’ll be able to even serve out his term, leaving VP Kamala Harris in charge and leading to a mad scramble among potential contenders. The media and Democratic diehards are clinging to President Biden like a life preserver but even they can’t hide it anymore.Biden held a press conference after meeting with Vietnamese leaders which probably wasn’t a great idea given the president’s lack of stamin...Patriots’ Mac Jones blames himself for more miscues in loss to Eagles
