TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) -- As the 2023 hurricane season enters its final stretch, the El Niño weather pattern has shown up in full force. El Niño is one of the two phases in the El Niño-Southern Oscillation phenomenon. During this stage, trade winds weaken, causing warm Pacific Ocean water to move toward the Americas, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). This climate pattern had a big impact on the 2023 hurricane season. With 19 named storms, the season was considered active, but thanks to the El Niño, few Atlantic cyclones ended up reaching the mainland U.S. "It really shows how different the weather pattern was this year with El Niño bringing warmer than normal sea surface temperatures in the Atlantic, and how that really played out to be fish storm, after fish storm, after fish storm," WFLA meteorologist Rebecca Barry said. This marks the biggest diplomatic breakthrough since October 7th.A ceasefire deal was reached between Israel and Hamas Tuesday night as they agreed on the release of 50 women and children hostages in Gaza for 150 Palestinian women and children in Israeli jails.President Joe Biden said, "We've been working on this intensively for weeks."The Biden administration says three American hostages will get to go home after this deal and there will be a pause on the attacks on Gaza for four days.There's been growing demand from families and activists to get the hostages back after Hamas kidnapped them back in early October. AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Two children were found safe and in another county on Tuesday after officials said they were previously missing, the Kyle Police Department said on social media.Both children were previously reported missing in Kyle."Thank you to everyone that helped share the information," Kyle PD said.The Caldwell County Sheriff's Office reported it received a 911 call about a vehicle that matched the description in an Amber Alert issued for the children Tuesday.Deputies responded to the vehicle, located in the 7000 block of Camino Real, north of Uhland. 'Felt like I was in a desperate position'Yanaisa Martinez's children are among the thousands of children in Texas without health insurance. Through a translator, Martinez told KXAN she had nowhere to take them for a doctor's visit. "I actually felt like I was in a desperate position because I didn't know where to take my son," the Spanish-speaking translator told us Martinez said. Police arrest Amsterdam man for multiple vandalisms

AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A 51-year-old Amsterdam man faces charges following an investigation into multiple overnight vandalisms. Brian C. Lebron was arrested for criminal mischief in the second and third degree. Get the latest news, weather, sports and entertainment delivered right to your inbox! Amsterdam Police were notified of a vehicle vandalism on East Main Street at around 6:30 a.m. on Monday, November 13. The incident reportedly happened overnight. Responding officers located three vehicles with shattered windows and/or windshields. The damage to the vehicles totals nearly $4K.Police also discovered six buildings with smashed windows. Bricks were located and recovered as evidence. The buildings were along the corridor of Main Street, Chuctanunda Street, Church Street, and East Main Street. The damage totals over $13K.
